Hampshire man Jeff Adams has raised over £2,200 for the Marie Curie Cancer Society by walking the entire length of Hadrian's Wall.
Jeff, a director of Bishops Waltham housebuilder, Mapledean Developments Ltd, had the idea some time ago but choosing a suitable week for the walk and arranging sponsorship took longer than expected.
"I mentioned the idea to one or two of my friends and colleagues, and the next thing I knew pledges and donations were arriving daily and I found myself in a serious training routine " he said.
Jeff walked the 84 mile National Trust trail from Newcastle to Bowness in the company of his friend Neil Palfreeman from Buckinghamshire.

"I thought it would be a good opportunity for Neil and I to catch up on all the news, but we found there wasn't too much energy left for talking when you're walking 16 miles a day in wet, muddy, windy conditions - often on stony ground and seemingly always uphill! When we did occasionally see the sun, the scenery really was so magnificent, that we would walk for miles, simply enjoying the views".
Jeff's walk raised both money for and awareness of Marie Curie, and now that the legs have fully recovered he's considering another challenge, as he explained: "I said I would do it again but needed a different location, at which point the staff at Mapledean immediately pointed out that there was a slightly longer wall in China! Perhaps they are trying to tell me something…"
